Overview

Nitz Restaurant is a well-loved Filipino dining spot nestled on J Leon Guinto Street in Malate, Manila. It stands out as a reliable choice for those craving familiar Filipino flavors with a twist, offering a bustling environment that has served locals and visitors alike for years.

The menu highlights flagship rice meals that delight with hearty, comforting flavors. The Chicken Cordon Bleu Rice Meal is a crowd favorite—crispy chicken wrapped around cheese and ham, complemented by creamy sauce over rice. Equally tempting is their Kare-Kare, a traditional peanut-based stew featuring ox tripe and vegetables, delivering authentic taste that's rich yet balanced. For those craving fusion, their Pinoy-style Katsudon blends Japanese and Filipino cuisines, simmering breaded pork and egg over rice into a satisfying dish.

Beyond the main dishes, Nitz offers diverse rice toppings such as spicy beef and bagoong rice, which meld bold flavors of fermented shrimp paste with fresh mango and crunchy chicharon, giving a unique texture and depth. The menu extends to daily specials like seasonal vegetables, chicken preparations, and various meat soups that reflect the chef's creativity and use of fresh ingredients.

The space is casual and no-frills, catering to diners looking for a quick, tasty meal without pretense. This makes it especially appealing to working professionals, local families, and students seeking familiar comfort food at reasonable prices. Wi-Fi access is provided with some limitations, suitable for casual browsing but less ideal for media streaming. Printing services add an unexpected convenience for those needing small office tasks done on site.

Customer experiences at Nitz have been largely positive regarding the food quality and value. Loyal patrons praise the consistent flavors and honest servings, remembering how it remained a staple through years, including for seafarers returning after months at sea. However, some have noted that the parking arrangement is challenging, with uneven, tight spaces that could frustrate visitors. Additionally, isolated reports mention occasional staff attitude issues that may mar the atmosphere.

In essence, Nitz Restaurant captures the heart of Filipino home cooking with dishes that comfort and satisfy. It's a solid choice for anyone in Malate who appreciates classic tastes served reliably in a straightforward setting. Whether you're stopping by for the Chicken Cordon Bleu, craving a warm bowl of Kare-Kare, or wanting to revisit a nostalgic Pinoy-Japanese blend like Katsudon, Nitz offers an accessible window into the diverse flavors of the Philippines.

They have Pinoy-style Katsudon and I love it! The pricing is not too bad but I wouldn't put this dish on the student-on-a-tight-budget list. It is fairly heavy. Food options are Filipino and Japanese. They have Wi-Fi but you need to enter your 1-hour ticket code into their portal, which is filled with advertising. It's okay since they're giving an hour free. I tested the speed/bandwidth and it hit 3.5 Mbps, though the connection was slightly intermittent/unstable. This is only a real problem if you try to watch movies Printing services are available and there's more info about them in their website. No outside food allowed.

The parking experience at this restaurant was disappointing. When I politely asked the owner about parking, she simply nodded and rudely pointed to the spot. The parking area was steep and uneven, with bumpy rocks that caused the car to jolt while reversing. The limited door space made exiting difficult. Overall, the parking layout was inconvenient and poorly maintained, detracting from the overall visit. Additionally, a rude employee cleaning tables stared intensely and with hostility at my father. Every time my father made a call or took a spoonful of his meal, the employee's mean glare made us all uncomfortable. His hateful attitude was uncalled for and made the dining experience unpleasant. I felt so annoyed by his behavior that I was tempted to confront him. Overall, poor staff attitude significantly affected our visit negatively.

Located at the corner of Leon Guinto and Nakpil, this little corner restaurant has been serving value for money lunches and dinners for a long time now. Their food is budget friendly as they cater to the office workers and students in the area. They serve a mix of Filipino and Japanese food. It is air conditioned and they have a second level.
